Jail sentence for causing a unfortunate accident

January 17 2009, 7:56pm

One of my English friends sent me this story. I was shocked about the long jail sentence an old woman gets for causing an unfortunate death.

The first article gives a very coloured story about what happened; In my opinion this woman doesn’t deserve such a high sentence; as if that will bring the police agent back.  This view is best represented in the second article I include;

Perhaps by paying attention to this particular case, we can change the judges mind and perhaps we can help in supporting the appeal.

For UK residents: Perhaps you could write to your own MP expressing your concern re the sentencing guidelines & ask him to approach Jack Straw (Ministry of Justice). Also write to Jack Straw. Addresses are:

The Rt Hon Jack Straw MP

The Ministry of Justice

102 Petty France

London

SW1H 9AJ

Keep letters to MPs to one side only as they just need to get the point.

The second article is a good basis, together with the Ministry of Justice website.

thanks for you effort!
